The present day access corridor that connects the courtyard containing the remains of the former 13th century St Bartholomew's Hospital with lower end of Christmas Steps and Lewins Mead. Offices now bud off from this private corridor. The hospital existed on this plot of land outside the city wall and across from St John's Gate on the north bank of the River Frome, a river that now flows under “The Centre” into St Augustine's Reach.
