Turning away from a study of The Grove on the Queen Square side of the floating harbour opposite, and looking instead to the left, gives the observer a view of the boat-lined Merchant's Quay beyond the entrance to Bathurst Basin. Sadly, grey coloured bricks were not selected to match the prevailing colour palette when the retaining wall was rebuilt alongside the steps.
