This has the essentially functional appearance of a warehouse or factory, perhaps mid-C19th. It is, however, quite well proportioned and has some architectural treatment of the windows and a heavy bracketed eaves. At the time it was known as Pittaway House, offering both "superior student accommodation" and "luxury loft-style apartments", an odd combination. Still, it makes a change from all those places marketing inferior accommodation.
