28th July and Epsom Road at East Clandon is empty, a rare sight. A trickle of pedestrians is on the eastbound carriageway, heading to watch the Olympic Road Race for cyclists go by. The yellow road signs were erected about a month in advance. Many of the spectators were lycra-clad and arrived by bike.
