Lisnaree Bridge near Banbridge

A stone and girder bridge carrying the minor Lisnaree Road Image across the River Bann (view downstream). At the time the piers had just been strengthened. Date of building unknown but the resemblance to a railway bridge (particularly the girder spans, the stone piers and abutments) suggests that it dates from after about 1850. Before then road bridges tended to consist of stone arches. An example nearby is Mulligan’s Bridge at the Corbet http://www.geograph.org.uk/snippet/1827.
