This is the only mausoleum in Greenock Cemetery. An inscription on the near side of the structure reads as follows: "Herein repose the ashes of Dame Frances Caroline Cameron who died January 25th 1899". The Irish-born Frances Caroline Macaulay was the daughter of a doctor, James William Macaulay. In 1869, she married Charles Cameron (1841-1924), who was also born in Ireland. (He later became an MP for Glasgow, and was created the 1st Baronet Cameron of Balclutha, Renfrew, in 1893. He remarried in 1900. See http://www.geograph.org.uk/snippet/8367 for the Image) The mausoleum is location № 25 on the Red Walk in the "Greenock Cemetery Walks" booklet (see the end-note); see that reference for further details.
