The Malthouse is nearest to the camera whilst The Royal Oak lies beyond. The former was built in the 18th century on the site of the village's former maltings some of whose ruins still remain in the garden. The Royal Oak by contrast was built in the 19th century and was the village pub from 1870 until 1992 when it was gutted by a fire. Whilst the building was restored it was converted into a private residence.
