Looking down from stationary traffic on the A282 Dartford crossing - southbound traffic such as us takes the bridge while northbound vehicles use the tunnel. The two toll plazas can be seen here - the northbound one in the foreground with the southbound one just beyond; trails of headlights and brakelights are more or less inevitable on a Friday teatime. Although the majority of the London Orbital road is the M25, it is the A282 for the mile or so each side of the Dartford Crossing. Otherwise, the crossing would be of no use to vehicles that are prohibited from motorways - and the alternative route is a long detour! The whole view is through a series of electricity cables strung from the many pylon lines in this area.
