The plaque reads: "This sculpture by George Wyllie was commissioned by SCOTRAIL to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Edinburgh & Glasgow Railway and was unveiled by the Rt. Hon. The Viscount Whitelaw KT, CH, MC on Sunday 16th February 1992."
