The part of the Jason Spencer Sports Ground that contains the new skateboard park (partially visible in the centre) together with the all-weather basketball court and all-weather keep-fit equipment (latter two, not visible here). The pedestrian entrance to this recreation area is out of sight although the sunlight glistening off a passing car indicates the position of Valley Road. This elongated rectangular recreation ground is situated between Day Brook (a stream) and the A6514, an arterial road that runs near to City Hospital. In the distance (and also out of sight in this picture) are a series of long-established tennis courts and some newly laid-out petanque pistes. This sports ground was named in memory of teenager of Tithby Road, Sherwood who was stabbed to death by a 17 year old boy during a fight in 2007 over a torn jacket belonging to a second young man, who is now in prison.
