This view of the new skateboard park in the Jason Spencer Sports Ground shows the elongated, rectangular shape of this recreation ground that is located between Day Brook (a stream) and Valley Road (the A6514). This trunk road passes close to the City Hospital. Behind the photographer is an new all-weather basket ball court and some all-weather keep-fit equipment. Further along this narrow strip of leisure space - in the opposite direction - are a series of long-established tennis courts together with some newly laid out petanque pistes. The sports ground was named in memory of teenager of Tithby Road, Sherwood who was stabbed to death by a 17 year old boy during a fight in 2007 over a torn jacket belonging to a second young man, who is now in prison.
