Rufford Millennium Cross

This Millennium cross was erected in 1998 in the grounds outside the village hall. Liverpool Road (A59) is behind. The inscription on the cross reads: THIS CROSS WAS ERECTED ON 10TH APRIL 1998 BY RUFFORD VILLAGE SOCIETY TO COMMEMORATE THE START OF THE THIRD MILLENIUM (sic) IT REPLACES THE ORIGINAL MARKET CROSS WHICH WAS ERECTED NEAR THIS SITE IN 1346 BY SIR WILLIAM DE HESKAYTE
