There is no signage on this shop on the corner of Beach Road and Ambrose Street to indicate that it is a fish & chip shop, only a small orange-coloured representation of a fish facing outwards from the wall just below the level of the upstairs windows. Above the doorway, a slate plaque installed in 1931 records that the house was the birthplace in July 1843 of a musician named John Richards (Isalaw). The house at that time was the King's Head (presumably an inn).
