Former home of Capt. Charles Pearson (1784-1856) and his daughter Emma (1828-1893). Charles was Mayor in 1851 reading the Riot Act to striking seamen. He had previously sailed with Nelson in 1804. Emma was the first woman to serve with the Red Cross running field hospitals in 1870 Franco-Prussian War and 1876 Serbo-Turkish War.
