Right beside the war memorial in Grove Park is this unassuming building. Weston-super-Mare Town Council is based here, having been established in 2000, . In 1889 Town Commissioners (the earliest form of elected local government established here in 1842) purchased the 8 acre Grove Park and Grove House from Cecil Smyth-Pigott, Lord of the Manor, for the benefit of the people of Weston-super-Mare. Weston-super-Mare Town Council is the 'parish' council for the town. It has 31 Councillors who take no allowance and is the only democratically elected body that exclusively represents the people of Weston-super-Mare.
