This overwhelmingly Catholic town has two Catholic churches both, for historic reasons, situated outside the town. The site for this church was given by the Protestant Earl of Annesley and an inscription on the church states that it was built in 1805 aided by the liberal contributions of Christians of all denominations. http://www.clonduffparish.com/home-2/st-johns-ballygorian
