Former Railway Station, Wallingford

Taken in June 1968, this photo shows the terminus in Station Road of the branch line from Cholsey & Moulsford Station. It was opened on the 7th July 1866 and closed to passengers on the 15th June 1959, then to goods traffic on the 13th September 1965. This station was demolished in 1969 and housing now occupies the site. A railway preservation society now runs a service between C & M Station and Wallingford (Hithercroft Road), about ¼ mile South of the original station.
