Resplendent Liverpool Street Station Pilot at Fenchurch Street

The RCTS East London Tour of 14 April 1951 (cf. Image]) employed the Liverpool Street Station Pilot, starting from Fenchurch Street and going via Millwall Junction to Blackwall, then North Woolwich and back to Stratford behind this engine, seen in a siding beforehand. It is ex-GE Holden class S56 No. 53 (built 5/1904, LNER class J69 No. 7053, 1946 No. 8619), which was refurbished early in 1948, so acquiring an 'E' prefix; as BR 68619 it survived until 10/61.
