The cast iron and bronze drinking fountain was presented to the park by the work-people of Greg's Mill, Reddish in 1869. The upper part has been restored, the original having been taken for scrap in 1940 as part of the war effort. Restoration work was carried out in 2000 by Dorothea Restorations Ltd of Whaley Bridge & Bristol. The original bandstand in Vernon Park was built in 1888 at a cost of £309. By 1968 it had fallen into disrepair and was demolished. The new bandstand dates from 2000.
