A testament to the Temperance movement in late 19th century Gainsborough. The Fanny Marshall Memorial Institute was founded by industrialist James Marshall in memory of his late wife Fanny, as a gymnasium and public hall. It opened in 1896 with a ceremony attended by Edward King, Bishop of Lincoln. It's been empty since c2002.
