There are definitely nautical overtones here. It could be the prow of a great liner. So, it is lightly infused with the spirit of Art Deco, although very much more modern, built 1970-73, the architects William Holford & Associates, using the British Lift Slab Method, in which "each complete floor [is] jacked up and fixed around the core." Built for, and still occupied by Thistle Hotels, at the time of the photo it was known as Atlantic Tower.
