Carver's are a long-standing business on Little's Lane, just off the ring road, having been trading for over 100 years. They suffered a serious fire in the yard yesterday (29th Feb 2012), which resulted in major traffic problems locally, closure of the nearby railway line, and significant damage to the structure of several of their stores and warehouses. The fire service are still on site, damping down what remains of the timber store. Some of the other buildings still stand at the far end of the yard, but it's unclear at this stage how badly damaged they are.
