This building is testimony to Pryce Pryce-Jones, a local born man who started his working life as a teenager in a small drapery shop - but finished his 85 year long life having built a global business, the very first of its type, a mail order or catalogue company and in the process become a knight, MP and High Sheriff and having contributed to the prosperity of his hometown, peers and locality, not to mention his family. The Royal Crest and Coat of Arms signify that one of his business's best customers was none other than Queen Victoria herself.
