Beach cafe/restaurant. This iconic, Grade II listed Canvey Island landmark was built in 1932 from a design by Ove Arup. Constructed in reinforced concrete, the cafe/shelter was designed to resemble the bridge of the Queen Mary. A slow decline in fortune from the 60's almost led to demolition when the coastal defences were significantly raised in the 70's but the building was rescued from near dereliction in the late 90's and restored to its former glory as a cafe/restaurant
