The sign is pointing the way to Warburton along the Bollin Valley Way at the point where it crosses the Trans Pennine Trail. The Bollin Valley Way passes through farmland and is for walkers only; horseriders and cyclists are prohibited and have to stay on the Trans Pennine Trail.
