Possibly the pub took this name, which it has had for at least 120 years, because it had a connection with a hunt or with greyhound racing. This is a recent sign which was installed when the pub had a revamp. The previous one was in a very traditional style and showed a black & white coloured greyhound standing on a grassy slope. It had unfortunately become rather faded. Sadly the pub was demolished in July 2022. See:- Image
