The Howson sign appears to be on number 8 but Arthur Howson & Sons Ltd (1930) is listed at number 6 along with M Tuttell & Sons (formerly of Corporation Street 1904).6-8 Tentercroft Street, built as a Smithy in 1867 for Henry Doughty and currently housing Howsons builders. Eliezer Howson started a bricklaying business in 1841, by the time he died in the mid-1880s he had built up a successful business and they have been based in this building from not long after its construction.
