View northward, towards Chesterfield etc. on the ex-Midland main Erewash Valley line. (See also Image The Class J mineral is one of countless coal trains which passed through here for Toton Yard just to the south. The locomotive is Stanier 8F 2-8-0 No. 48185 (built 4/42, withdrawn 2/67). (Of the 663 8Fs, all but about 120 were built during World War Two - at many different Railway Works).
