The Midland Oak is reputedly at the centre of England (as are one or two others in the Midlands!). The old oak which had stood here for centuries finally rotted and became unsafe and was removed in the early 1980s. This replacement was planted in 1988 in order to maintain the tradition. The plaque Image on the right commemorates the planting.
