One of the few remaining cobbled roads in Macclesfield. Although roads intended for heavy wear used expensive granite shipped in from elsewhere this in common with many lesser roads appears to have used local stone probably from the Kerridge quarries or Teggs Nose which was closer. Beyond the white house the road is carried by a bridge that slope up over the Macclesfield Canal.
