View northward, towards Wigan, Preston etc.: WCML. The line to Liverpool via St Helens went off to the left, that to Manchester via Tyldesley to the right; Springs Branch Locomotive Depot was off frame to the right. The 14.30 Morecambe - Crewe is headed by Stanier 'Jubilee' 6P 4-6-0 No. 45556 'Nova Scotia' (built 6/34, with drawn 9/64).
