The tide is out leaving mostly mud in the creek to the left, the water on the right is a lagoon on the landward side of the sea wall, presumably to encourage wild fowl. Many of the buildings in this shot are a relatively new creekside residential development with the Ship Inn just visible on the right http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/272665.
