A Robey & Co Ltd of Lincoln inverted vertical single cylinder steam engine that drove plant in the water tower. Serial number 19850 of 1900 with a slide valve cylinder 4.5" x 6" and a 32.75" flywheel. Power was a mere 2.5 hp. This was the Victorian equivalent of a modern relatively small electric motor. On the right are the smashed up remains of a Worthington driven pump - presumably smashed to get at the non-ferrous metals within! The engine is to be preserved by the Robey Trust.
