Middlewich Bottom Lock No 74, Cheshire

This is the bottom lock in the flight of three on the Trent and Mersey Canal at Middlewich. The deep locks provide a rise (or fall) of 32ft 7in (9·9 metres). Kings Lock ((No 71) above and Big Lock (No 75) below are usually not included as part of the flight. The telephoto assisted image was taken from the footbridge over the middle lock.
