The former Brunner Mond (and ICI; now Tata) chemical works is by the River Weaver opposite the Anderton boat lift, which has given access to the Trent and Mersey Canal since the 1870s, though not continuously. This telephoto view was taken from the Anderton Nature Park. Late evening sunlight was beginning to illuminate the billowings from the chimneys while dark rain clouds still dominated much of the sky to the east and south.
