A “Mk II” Victorian lamp box, on the Dromore – Lurgan road, almost opposite the Blackskull Road Image According to the “Shire guide to Old Letter Boxes” over a hundred have survived. This is the only one I have seen in Northern Ireland. The “Mk 1” version is stated as having less than half a dozen survivors. This has the inscription “LETTERS ONLY”. The earlier version has simply “LETTERS”.
