Defending Baytown

The "town" named Robin Hood's Bay, (Baytown), has been attacked by the elements (mainly the sea) for hundreds of years, and with catastrophic consequences. The high sea wall has, so far, prevented any more houses slipping into the sea, but the wave energy needs to go somewhere! Either side of the sea wall, large granite blocks have been piled up to absorb wave energy before it erodes more of the clay cliffs. The sea will win in the end, it's only a matter of time. In the foreground of the photograph, Landing Scar is covered in seaweed and other marine life including limpets and periwinkles.
