With the opening of the new Hindhead Tunnel at the end of July 2011, work was not long in starting on altering the old A3. The section between Hindhead Crossroads and Hazel Grove interchange is now the A333, and here we see work underway to convert the Grayshott junction to a mini-roundabout, the top deck of a Stagecoach bus providing an ample viewpoint. East of the Hindhead crossroads, a short section of the old A3 is to be retained as far as the Devil's Punch Bowl car park, with the rest of the road to be ripped up and returned to nature.
