This is the highly decorative inn sign outside the Image] which can also be seen in Image This sign was designed and painted in the 1920s by Dora Carrington for the then owner of the hotel, John Fothergill, who made both the hotel and the town of Thame quite famous in his book "Diary of an Innkeeper".
