This large building was constructed at the start of the 1960s to replace the old manual switchboard and house a new and rapidly growing electro-mechanical exchange. In addition the 100 and 192 operators for the Leamington and the surrounding area were situated on the top floor. With the advent of much more compact electronic exchanges in the 1980s the space needed for equipment was reduced dramatically and the exchange now only takes up a part of one floor.
