Located on Station Road, a few tens of metres from Abergavenny railway station. The two signs hanging from the wall at the upstairs level are an interesting contrast. Though both show 'The Great Western Hotel', the one nearer the camera has a representation of a steam locomotive, https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5641819 whereas the other one shows the Black Sheep Backpackers logo https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5641826, which also appears as the white-on-black sign on the left side of the doorway. Black Sheep Backpackers provide twin, quad or dorm rooms, some with en-suite bathrooms. Mountain bike hire is available. There is a bar and pool room.
