The site of Sizewell A (at right) occupies 245 acres of land north of Sizewell. The station was opened on 7 Aptil 1967 and has produced 110 TWh or electricity during its 40 year operational lifetime - sufficient to meet the domestic needs of England and Wales for 6 months. The power station was shut down on 31 December 2006.
