Built in 1752 as a corn mill by James Brindley, famous for his work in the development of the canal system in the UK. The nearer end of the building was demolished when the road was widened in 1948. The mill remained in use until 1940, and has been restored to working order. A breastshot wheel drives three pairs of stone. Grade II listed, also a Scheduled Monument.
