The bases for two gallows mark the site of Scotland's last execution for highway robbery on 25th January, 1815. The temporary gallows were erected specifically to hang two Irishmen, Thomas Kelly and Henry O'Neill, at the scene of their crime, on 25th January 1815. See also Image
