On The Racecourse. In the days when it was a Racecourse this spot was known as 'Tattersall's Corner'. This was a spoof of the famous Tattersall's Sale Rooms at the corner of Hyde Park in the 19thC. It was a popular spot to watch the races as it was the nearest point to the poor areas of the town.
