View southward, towards Swindon and London on the ex-GWR Swindon - Gloucester main line, the nearer two tracks being the ex-Midland Bristol - Birmingham main line. On a fine summer evening, the 16.55 Paddington - Cheltenham (St James) is headed by 'Castle' 4-6-0 No. 7006 'Lydford Castle' (built 6/46, withdrawn 12/63).
