View southward, towards Swindon and London on the ex-GWR Swindon - Gloucester etc. main line. The nearer two tracks are the ex-Midland main line Bristol - Birmingham; Naas Crossing Box is just visible on the right. The 13.45 Paddington - Cheltenham (St James) will be reversed at Gloucester (Central) for its final leg. The locomotive is 'Castle' 4-6-0 No. 7002 'Devizes Castle' (built 6/46, recently fitted with double chimney and withdrawn 3/64).
