Surrounded by housing (and a prison) is this windmill, dating from 1816. At the time it was built, this would have been a rural area. By 1864, development of housing around the mill meant that it was sheltered from wind and could no longer operate. It was used once more as a mill in the early 20th Century, but this time it was powered mechanically rather than by the wind. The windmill was restored in 2010-2011 with a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
