Mount Ephraim House is in the distance. The gardens extend over 10 acres of the 800 acre estate owned by the Dawes family for over 300 years. The house is a Grade II listed building rebuilt in 1878 from a 17th century house. The gardens were laid out in the early 1900s and restored by Mary and Bill Dawes from early 1950s. Mary died in 2009 aged 93.
