Viewed from the corner of Folly Lane and Penygarn Road. The church http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2430897 dates from the 12th century. Derived from an old English word for a corpse, a lych gate is the roofed gateway to a churchyard, formerly used to shelter a coffin until the clergyman’s arrival for the burial.
